"Pass" through the door!
Considering that on the microscopic level matter is mostly empty space, because 99.9% of the stuff is packed into the nucleus, then shouldn't I be able to somehow spring up from the desk and propel my body towards the door, hoping to simply "pass" through it? I mean, what are the chances that I will not make it, that the nuclei of the atoms in my body and door will obstruct my trajectory?

There is a theory that talks about this. I think it's called the String Theory, but really I'm not sure. If it's what I'm thinking of, though, it basically means that someone, since molecules are in motion, eventually to things resting against one another will have their molecules move in such a way that on thing will fall through another, like sand sifting through a screen filter.
Anyway, I think that's what they said. Would be kind of freaky to see a person suddenly sink into the sidewalk all the way to China, huh?
That's the analogy I was looking for...like sand through a sieve.
